Ever since I migrated to the United States, I’ve always felt that I’m closer to accomplishing my Goal which is to Play at the professional level. Working hard every day has proven that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. Trying to find a way to play for a club has always been a challenge for me because these various clubs would always offer me a spot on their team but in return, I would have to pay a fee. Nevertheless, I kept trying but kept failing at getting into a club. I realized that my talent wasn’t going to always be the factor for me, so I had to improvise by starting to play high school soccer. That summer of 2016 I trained every single day to better my craft. Working on my ball control, far-range pass, and defensive skills was key in that process. Leading up to the season I realized how well I’ve got by just putting in that extra work before pre-season started. By the end of that season, I spoke to a couple of college coaches that wanted me to be a part of their program. However, my outstanding performance of eight goals and six assists amazed my assistant coach so he went on and told his wife about me who was the Track and field head coach for the girl’s team. This is what lead me back to track and field after six years after not participating in both sports since I left Jamaica as a child. Starting off my senior year I decided to be the best there is at the high school level in both sports. Having the thought of becoming the best high school athlete I’ve always thought of being ten steps ahead of all my competitors. Unfortunately, I did not become the top athlete in both sports, but I placed fifth overall in the hurdles for track and field. Those results motivated me to become even better a what I do and with all that hunger I made it to Syracuse University. Even though I made it to Syracuse University the Job isn’t done yet. I will continue to inspire and keep on striving to become the professional athlete I’ve dreamt of becoming.
